Rat Borne Diseases

Rat is an animal which can transmit many diseases to human beings through various ways. Rat bites and scratches can result into diseases. Rat urine can cause serious disease. Rat saliva can transmit fatal disease. Rats are dangerous if their scats are inhaled. Diseases transmitted by rats are in two categories……...

1 Diseases directly transmitted by rats
Hantavirus Pulmonary Syndrome. This is a viral disease that is transmitted by rats found in rice fields or rice storage. This disease can be spread by inhaling dust contaminated with rat urine or feces, direct contact with rat urine or feces and or by rat bite.

Leptospirosis. This is a bacterial disease that is transmitted by contaminated water by infected rats. This is caused simply by coming into contact with the contaminated water.

Rat Bite Fever. This is a disease transmitted by scratch, bite or contact with a dead rat. Salmonellosis. This disease is transmitted by consuming contaminated food, water or drinks by rat feces bacteria.

2 Diseases indirectly transmitted by rats.
Plague. This is carried by fleas which reside on domestic rats. They transmit the disease while feeding on blood.

Colorado Tick Fever. This is a viral disease that is produced by bite of teak residing on rat.

Cutaneous Leishmaniasis. This is a disease spread by bites of infected sand fly sucking blood of a rat.

Treatment and Prevention.
All diseases transmitted by rats either directly or indirectly are categorized in two groups---- Viral and Bacterial. The viral diseases are treated by anti viral drugs as far as they are effective. The bacterial diseases are treated by anti biotic drugs as much as they react to the disease.
Nothing much else can be done after the disease is transmitted. It is better to prevent the disease. For this…

Please keep in mind that maximum rat transmitted diseases are serious even fatal. Plague broke out in Europe as an epidemic and wiped out almost entire England. Do not take rat transmitted diseases lightly.

Bed bug infestations

Though Bedbug is considered relatively safe about spreading diseases in humans apart from sucking blood and causing skin irritation, a bed bug can individually and collectively cause a number of health effects. These include skin rashes, allergic symptoms and various psychological effects on the bitten person.
Bedbug bites, clinically known as CIMICOSIS can cause a range of skin issues from almost invisible effects to multiple blisters on the skin. This may lead to small macular spots to prominent bulla formations on the skin. Skin hemorrhage may also occur on the skin of the bitten. Numerous bites may lead to urticaria on the skin which may be mild to severe rashes with irritation or itching sensations.

There are many psychological infestations caused by bed bug bites. It can cause Anxiety, Stress, and Insomnia to the person who remains exposed to bedbug bites for a long period of time. This may lead to serious consequences over a period of time.

A number of other symptoms are visible with bed bug bites. A person may suffer from Anaphylactic shock from a bed bug bite which may even be fatal some time and may result in death of the person. Many suffer from Anemia, low hemoglobin in blood, many bacterial infections may occur on skin that may lead to severe complications. Bed bug bite can cause Asthma to patients and potentially trigger the attacks.

There is no such specific treatment for bedbug bites apart from regular anti biotic applications or iron supplementations, anti allergic medications or such routine treatments.

House fly borne Diseases

House flies are the most common house hold flying insect visible in Indian sub continent. This is one of the most fatal disease transmitters in our houses.
